A Pastor's statement about our times

During life with Covid-19, What Do You Need To Know About God?

April 5, 2020

As a pastor, I want to do my part to help folks make sense of life in the unprecedented time of Covid-19. Of course there is already lots of stuff out there. I encourage you, when listening to what others write, to give your attention in particular to those who present Biblical truth using a clear literal interpretation. You see, I’m starting with a couple of clear “givens”. #1 There is only one true God, the God of the Bible. #2 The Bible is God’s message to mankind, his guidebook, His instruction manual on life. As such, God crafted it so that it is really quite straightforward… He wants us to understand what’s in there and has made it so we can. So in these particular blogs I’m starting, I’m not planning to prove the existence of God or to convince you that the Bible is absolutely what it claims to be and is without error. There is ample (even overwhelming) evidence for those things, but I want to take our 2 givens and move into a particular area.

You see, ALWAYS in times like this, there are those who ask “where is God in all this? Doesn’t he care? How can he allow…” and so on. Those are answered well by many great folks like Jim Daly, Franklin Graham, John MacArthur. The direction I want to head is as I stated at the top… in a time like this “what do you need to know about God”. I believe that when we get certain foundational things in place, those “next tier” things end up getting answered as well. I am not the only one who has found that the better I have understood who God is, fundamentally, in his character, his attributes… the better I have been able to deal with all that “life” throws at us. There is no greater or more life-changing pursuit, than knowing the One True God. As it says in John 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” If you are interested in learning more from TCBC, our services are online - THESE ARE ALL ON YOUTUBE NOW...
